For the next several days I will be posting about the World Congress of Families. This year it is being held in Sydney, Australia.  Remember how we helped to raise funds for Angela to attend? She is sending daily reports of the presentations, interviews she is able to have, and more. I am excited to share with you what she is experiencing. There are so many around the world - politicians, religious leaders, community organizers, trained professionals, and others - who are dedicated to defending the family. I will try to post each day's events in order so you are not reading them backwards as you scroll down. I have broken up Angela's summaries into several posts so it isn't overwhelming to see a HUGE post. Remember, if you have any questions you would like her to ask when she gives her interviews, leave them in the comments and I will pass them along to her.

Christmas Remade Into Valentine's

What do you do with all those leftover candy canes from Christmas? Sometimes we use them to stir our hot cocoa, or crush them to add to a delightful batch of fudge brownies. Or, if you are cheap like me, we save them to use for Valentine's cards. This year I let the children design cards and I photographed them to print. You could tape them into place if you really did want to get rid of all those candy canes.

  1. I love that idea. I was thinking about turning the candy canes into hearts but I did not know what to do with them next. The card is perfect.

  3. We did this one year, but we left them wrapped, glued them together, tied with ribbon, and hung secretly on all our neighbors doors (even ours so we wouldn't be gound out).

  7. I keep my leftover candy canes in a dish in my cupboard for winter colds--Peppermint is a natural remedy that helps alleviate a child's cough so I plop pieces into their herb tea, which also makes them more likely to DRINK the tea, when they are sick with a cough or cold!

  9. Montse,
Love this idea. I've seen it before, but have never had enough canes to make cards from and I had never thought about taking a photo of one and reproducing it. Great Idea. Yes, Candy canes in Hot Cocoa is the ONLY way to drink cocoa.

  11. LOVE it!! We only have a few leftovers, so I'll probably use the idea to photograph them and then make cards. Once photographed, maybe we'll use the idea from "ice cream diary" to spread some love throughout our neighborhood! Thanks for sharing such great ideas!

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. ☺ There, don't you feel better?

Please leave a comment! I enjoy hearing your thoughts, whether you agree with me or not. If we all agreed on everything how boring would that be? Worse than eating white chocolate, because it's fake. So be real, be yourself.
