For the next several days I will be posting about the World Congress of Families. This year it is being held in Sydney, Australia.  Remember how we helped to raise funds for Angela to attend? She is sending daily reports of the presentations, interviews she is able to have, and more. I am excited to share with you what she is experiencing. There are so many around the world - politicians, religious leaders, community organizers, trained professionals, and others - who are dedicated to defending the family. I will try to post each day's events in order so you are not reading them backwards as you scroll down. I have broken up Angela's summaries into several posts so it isn't overwhelming to see a HUGE post. Remember, if you have any questions you would like her to ask when she gives her interviews, leave them in the comments and I will pass them along to her.

Pregnancy Induced Insomnia

It's 11pm. I should be in bed. I'm exhausted, stressed, and maybe a little bit cranky.

The girls all went to bed by 9:30 but Special Dark just barely faded away. He had a late nap. Mr. Ferrero Rocher is out with his brothers baling three pivots of hay. It has to be done when the dew is right. That's also part of the reason Special Dark stayed up late. The balers are right outside our house and Special Dark LOVES to hear machinery running.

After writing down all my ambitious remodeling/redecorating plans in the last post I can declare not a single item has been crossed off the list, and not for a lack of trying. Too many other things have come up. And it is the summer farm season. Everything revolves around it. It's how and when we make the money we'll need for the rest of the year.

Tomorrow will be the same as the last couple of days. Mr. FR will bale in the middle of the night and hopefully get 4-5 hours of sleep before having to go haul the bales off the field and into the stackyard. Bon Bon and Semisweet will wake up around 5 am and go rake hay for about 4 hours along with a couple of others - I think tomorrow it's supposed to be Grandpa, an aunt, and a cousin. The rest of us will get up between 6 - 7, do the morning chores, make breakfast and try to get a little bit of school done. The swathing was finally finished Wednesday. Bon Bon has been one of three swathers mowing two pivots (about 160 acres) a day. She comes home after raking, grabs a bite to eat, and then heads out to swath. Farm kids really learn how to work, don't they? We'll feed the extra workers lunch (my SIL takes care of breakfast and another dinner). Wednesday we had 18 mouths at the table. Believe it or not that part is fun. Everyone sitting around eating, talking, laughing.

But now the day is done and I can't go to sleep. It seems the baby in utero is the most active kicking, elbow jabbing, hiccuping, etc. at this time of day. Lucky me.

I still need a cup of cocoa.
