Prettying Up Regular pens

I have a friend who just has a knack for making things pretty. She has a talent for decorating anything: her home, tablescapes, for a party, etc. She threw a baby shower for my SIL and while there we were required to write our names and addresses on envelopes so thank you notes could easily be sent. That idea in itself was great. But what caught my attention where the pens. She had taken simple clear black pens and made them pretty by adding scrapbook paper to the inside. Of course Brownie, who also has a natural talent for making things pretty, decided we needed to do it too. Here is a photo tutorial of what we did, no words of explanation. ☺

  3. I love pretty and simple! Will have to pass ths idea on to my 8yr old. And more likely to be used than those flower pot pens that keep showing up.

  7. Wow! I just read what you wrote in Spanish... I love that proverb: "Las cosas claras..." The first time that I said that to my husband he didn't understand me... and he is from Argentina! I guess they don't use that in Argentina. Anyhow, I love that idea of the pens. I just need to find nice scrapbook paper in Spain - a hard tastk!

  9. I love making these pens! I usually add some micro beads for a little extra bling. You can use sheets of sticky strip to wrap around and roll in beads. Or, what I like to do is use 1/4" stricky strip and wrap it around in a spiral going down (with space between) and roll that in micro beads.

  14. I came across your blog post last week and became determined to "pretty up my pens"! It's something I had been meaning to do for a while but coming across your post was the final boost of encouragement I needed. I finally succeeded last night. So thank you for the inspiration--my pens make my workspace a little happier now!

  15. Cute pens. But its beyond a show of poor taste and rather rude to have guests address their own thank you notes! (did I read that correctly? was that a typo?).

    1. generally, you address the envelope and then those envelopes go into a drawing for a raffle during the shower :)

    2. I think it's one of the best ideas I've ever heard, for the FRIEND throwing the shower to make things easier on a new mama by having guests write their addresses.

  16. @Anonymous,

We put our addresses on the envelope so it was easier for the new mother to send out the thank you notes. We did not write our own thank you notes. :D

    1. *nods* I don't see where it's in poor taste for the organizer of a baby shower to make things easier for a new mother. Frankly, I'd have loved to have someone do that for me when mine were tiny!

    1. The ones I use are the Pentel RSVP pens. You can buy them here at amazon or at your local office supply store.

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. ☺ There, don't you feel better?

Please leave a comment! I enjoy hearing your thoughts, whether you agree with me or not. If we all agreed on everything how boring would that be? Worse than eating white chocolate, because it's fake. So be real, be yourself.
