For the next several days I will be posting about the World Congress of Families. This year it is being held in Sydney, Australia.  Remember how we helped to raise funds for Angela to attend? She is sending daily reports of the presentations, interviews she is able to have, and more. I am excited to share with you what she is experiencing. There are so many around the world - politicians, religious leaders, community organizers, trained professionals, and others - who are dedicated to defending the family. I will try to post each day's events in order so you are not reading them backwards as you scroll down. I have broken up Angela's summaries into several posts so it isn't overwhelming to see a HUGE post. Remember, if you have any questions you would like her to ask when she gives her interviews, leave them in the comments and I will pass them along to her.

marie-madeline sewing studio {giveaway}

It's no secret I love to sew. Quilts, aprons, skirts, dresses, etc. keep me busy. I have a HUGE stash of fabric to choose from for all my projects. I have to have a stash. The nearest fabric store is three hours away. {Walmart does not count!} So most of my fabric is bought online. My favorite store to purchase from and the source for most of my fabric is marie-madeline studio.

Run by the beautiful Long ladies, a mother and four daughters, this family owned business has a great selection of high quality fabric, sewing patterns, as well as bags, aprons, and ladies and girls apparel. and their customer service is unbeatable! I have never been disappointed with my purchases.

A couple of years ago I purchased the anaclaire jumper pattern to make dresses for Cookie and Brownie. They turned out so cute! {I wanted to show you pictures but for some reason my camera is not cooperating with my computer. Hopefully I can get it fixed soon and upload those pictures!} The pattern was easy to follow had several different options. Even though my girls have sprouted up the dresses still fit because I made the long option.

Another favorite pattern has been the Street Fair Skirts. I LOVE this pattern! See the one with the detail stripes going down? That's my favorite. The A-line shape is oh-so-flattering even on my more "robust" frame.  :)

marie-madeline studio is giving away a $30 gift certificate! What will you buy? Fabric, patterns or one of the custom-made goodies?

  14. Sewing machines intimidate me. Many women have tried to teach me, but I get so nervous about it that all I feel confident doing is a nice straight line. And then only if someone else has set everything up properly...I know, I'm a chicken.
    That said, I'd go for the custom-made options:)

  16. I always have a few little helpers when I go out shopping, so a trip to the fabric store would be a nightmare. So I would go with fabric, and am on the hunt for a patters or two to make matching dresses or skirts for myself and my 3 girls, and maybe a matching tie for my 2 guys.

  23. I'd definitely check out that skirt pattern. And maybe a woman's blouse pattern? Then I'd have to see if they have whole bolts available since that's how much fabric I'd need for my "robust" frame! Ha.

    "WalMart doesn't count!" I already thought very highly of you, but now? You've moved right on up to the top of the pedestal. I hate that JoAnn's is still where my budget is....I'd love to purchase all my fabrics from indie shops....

    ReplyDelete
  24. I would definitely by patterns!!! Or I might buy a bit of fabric. ;)

    We live only 30 minutes away from JoAnn's but we still can't spend the gas money to visit constantly...nor can my pocket allowance afford that. So I do have a growing stash and I love collecting fabrics from different projects that one day I'll use for a very large scrappy quilt! Can't wait! :D It's also nice to have a stash for those spontaneous projects I just have to make immediately. Lol.

    Blessings!

  26. I need fabric and a pattern. I want to make an apron for me and transform one of my husbands shirts into a little dress for my daughter but I think the best way to go about that would be to modify a pattern rather than just make it blindly!

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. ☺ There, don't you feel better?

Please leave a comment! I enjoy hearing your thoughts, whether you agree with me or not. If we all agreed on everything how boring would that be? Worse than eating white chocolate, because it's fake. So be real, be yourself.
