For the next several days I will be posting about the World Congress of Families. This year it is being held in Sydney, Australia.  Remember how we helped to raise funds for Angela to attend? She is sending daily reports of the presentations, interviews she is able to have, and more. I am excited to share with you what she is experiencing. There are so many around the world - politicians, religious leaders, community organizers, trained professionals, and others - who are dedicated to defending the family. I will try to post each day's events in order so you are not reading them backwards as you scroll down. I have broken up Angela's summaries into several posts so it isn't overwhelming to see a HUGE post. Remember, if you have any questions you would like her to ask when she gives her interviews, leave them in the comments and I will pass them along to her.

Boredom Buster List

The other day my daughter was complaining that she was bored. No, wait, BORED - all in capitals. Hmm...must be pretty bad if she put it that way, right? She even wrote an e-mail to Grandma explaining complaining how bored she was.

Now, I don't know about you, but I think grandmas are a certain kind of genius all in themselves. And this grandma came through wonderfully. She wrote an e-mail with the following instructions:
"Here is an idea for you.

Get a piece of paper and on each line write a letter. Starting with A until you get to Z. You can make two columns if you wish on the paper. Then you start with the letter A and write an activity that you can do with that letter. Do the same thing for each letter. For instance for the letter q you can put quilt. For the letter p you can put paint. When you are done you will have a list of 26 activities that you can do when you think you are bored. I want to see your list when you are all done."
Boredom busted. All my children had to get in on it because it looked like so much fun. I won't bore you with seven different lists though and just show you one instead.
Child Created A-Z Boredom Buster List

Some letters were harder to think of things to do but they persevered until they had all letters present and accounted for.

What can your child come up with for their own boredom buster list?

  3. I especially liked D for driving lessons and Y for yesterday's chores that I forgot! Around here, a certain child could put A for all of chores I've ignored this week.....

Too funny and ingenious. I will have to get my children to make these.

Put "eat chocolate" at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you'll get one thing done. ☺ There, don't you feel better?

Please leave a comment! I enjoy hearing your thoughts, whether you agree with me or not. If we all agreed on everything how boring would that be? Worse than eating white chocolate, because it's fake. So be real, be yourself.
